Lots of Wine News In Lieu of a Real Post
- TONIGHT, the return of Punch Club at Warehouse, in celebration of World Cocktail Week, 6-8
- Wine and Laser Tag? Hey, looks like I just found a great way to celebrate my birthday: I can get drunk and get arrogant with a plastic gun at the same time.
- 'Tis the season for Bourbon, thanks in part to a little pony show called the Kentucky Derby. I personally don't take part in Kentucky Derby festivities; not so long ago, in a distant decade known as the 1970s, my family lived in Kentucky. Not long after that my family was kicked out of Kentucky for various offenses, one of them being the fact that my dad ruined a judge's prized front yard with his pickup truck. Anyways. Multiple bars in the area are offering special Bourbons and cocktails featuring the spirit: OnTapDC has 'em all.
- For those who want Bourbon and cigars every Wednesday, Old Glory Bar-B-Que offers "Sip 'n Smoke" nights, a happy hour on Wednesdays from 5-8 featuring cigars and Bourbon tastings on their patio.
- The Washington Post gives you a couple good reasons to say NO to bottled sour mixes.
- Taste wine and give water to needy people all around the world. Sounds about awesome to me.
- The Washington Wine Academy is introducing the DC School of Beer. Join the WWA at the Crystal Gateway Marriott on May 9 and taste over 50 beers: choose from two tasting sessions, either from 3 to 5:30 p.m. or from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $32.50 apiece or two for $60.
- Amazing date night: on May 26 Belga Cafe is featuring an exquisite beer tasting dinner featuring some of their favorite Belgian brews. The meal includes an entree and dessert, and will incorporate some of the Belgium blonde beers as well as insight on the brews from Jens Piferoen, Belga’s master beer sommelier. Dinner is $46 per person and starts around 6:30 p.m.
- On May 21 check out National ZooFari, where wine and good food meet to save Asian elephants. Or something like that. Check out the stunning list of restaurants and wine stores that are participating, as I cannot list them all. Tickets aren't cheap ($175 for nonmembers), but this will be an amazing event, as most things at the Zoo tend to be.
- SAVOR, an American Craft Beer and Food Experience, is sold out. Get your tickets insanely early next year.
- The Washington Wine Academy is hosting a Wine and Art Night in Old Town on May 21 featuring wine, cheese, and a reception at the P&C Art Gallery. $20.

I don't have anything else for you this week, so enjoy a photo of a pug eating a cork. This weekend - nay, this month - has more than enough events for you, so stop reading and start drinking!
God loves a cheerful giver.
