Tequila makes you do funny things.
Tequila at Oyamel may not make you dance on a table at a biker bar, but hey anything's possible! Oyamel is celebrating tequila and all its history for the next fortnight. Check them out every Tuesday and Thursdays for free tastings from now until March 15th, 4-6pm. In the meantime, I present you with photographic evidence that tequila is more than a Margarita, less than a hangover.
Oyamel is one of a handful of restaurants in the country to be awarded the coveted Agave De Oro, the highest “Distintivo T” certification given out by the Tequila Regulatory Council of Mexico for its extensive list of tequilas. In addition to their list of 60 different tequilas, Oyamel is one of the few restaurants that features a large selection of premium mezcal and serves it in the proper glass, one that allows for the unique aromas and flavors of mezcal to be released.

The tequila festival is also featuring special cocktails of the day, all following the inventive tequila theme: Oaxacan Fizz (their interpretation of the Ramos Gin Fizz made with Fidencio Mezcal, house made horchata, Jerry Thomas bitters and egg white) and the Mexican Mai Tai (Siembra Azul Blanco and Añejo tequilas with fresh lime juice, Kaluha and hint of mint). These drinks are the pinnacle of good mixing and even better ingredients; they had about as much alcohol as a Long Island Iced Tea and tasted like fruit juice. Well played.

God loves a cheerful giver.
