Today is July 14th, for some it's just another Tuesday, for others it's the birthday of the French republic. If you're in the latter camp, then make sure you take some time to celebrate tonight.
Zagat's has a wonderful wrap up of what do to tonight. Highlights include:
- A $35 three-course prix fixe meal at Bastille in Old Town, serving Franco-American food.
- An outdoor party, with grilled sausages, crepes and ice cream stations at Cafe du Parc.
- Free gougeres (if you eat) at Central
- Free wine and canapes from 7-9 at Ici.
The exceptionally talented and rakishly handsome Fritz Hahn over at WashingtonPost.com has his own take on what you should do. Click here to check it out, but here are some highlights:
-
The French Maid Relay Race at L'Enfant's. With French music, wine and beer specials, free cake and appearances by King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
-
A wicked party at Bistrot du Coin, with seatings at 7 and 9, followed by a DJ at 11.
-
If you wear red, white and blue you'll get free champers at Napoleon. And a DJ will play French tunes, natch.
- YOU can relay race to win wine at the Sofitel. And then, drink free wine. There's also free wine at Bistrot Lepic.
