This drink was originally created for use by the importers of the Pitu brand of cachaça. As the name implies, it's essentially a Margarita made with cachaça instead of tequila. Tequila and cachaça are probably my favorite spirits, so I was very excited to try this. Since cachaça does not have much of a flavor on its own, this drink essentially relies on the triple sec and lime juice. Fresh lime is essential, Rose's will taste too sweet and artificial. I'd actually boost the lime percentage here a little bit, or else it feels like you're drinking straight triple sec. High quality ingredients are key in this cocktail, since you will taste them all.
The Cacharita
- 1 1/2 oz cachaça
- 1 1/2 oz triple sec
- 1/2 oz lime juice (freshly squeezed if possible!)
Shake with ice in a shaker, serve in a chilled cocktail glass (rimmed with salt, optional). Garnish with a lime.
