Sometimes it is the simplest drink that is the most satisfying (and by sometimes, I mean-99% of the time). This Saturday whilst at a birthday party at the Gibson (you want your friends to love you extra hard? Invite them to an open bar at the Gibson. Works every time) I fickly swam through the sea of lavander/gin and rum/cherry and God only knows what else drinks, none of which provided any level of complete satisfaction while (my friend) Emily ordered one rye sour after another and enjoyed it's frothiness thoroughly (they add egg whites to their recipe) and was as content as a person can be.
A Rye Sour is a drink you date long term, not just flirt with.

1 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey
1 oz Lemon Juice
1/4 oz Sugar Syrup
Directions
Shake well over ice cubes in a shaker. Strain into a whiskey sour glass, add a cherry, and serve.
God loves a cheerful giver.
After you left we got into the PISCO SOURS, which were totally amazing...
I guess my invite got lost. Damned USPS.
Ah, so that's the recipe. Thanks!
