Today is a good day for an easy to make (and even easier to drink) cocktail. While you can use grenadine in place of raspberry I really advocate against it. This is nothing without the raspberry flavor and besides, a small bottle of raspberry syrup is cheap at the liquor store next to the Blockbuster in Adams Morgan.

Raspberry Highball
1 1/2 oz gin
1 oz raspberry syrup (or grenadine)
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
Shake in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a highball glass with ice. Top off with soda if you prefer, but this is also good just on ice. This is so good I'd serve it by the pitcher.
