I debated featuring this one today because I wasn't able to make it properly. Or really at all. This calls for orange gin, which I found a little tricky to procure. I'm sure it's somewhere in this town (probably Calvert Woodley), but I was pressed for time. Anyways, orange gin is gin flavored with mandarin oranges and sugar. By definition this can be classified as a schnapps - a neutral grain spirit flavored with fruit and sugar that you swiped from your parents bar when you were 14 and didn't know any better. Seagram's produces a variety and while I'm not 100% sure, I wager DeKuyper's does too. They love making brightly-colored fruity liqueurs that give you vicious hangovers.

Orange Gin Fizz
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 1/2 oz orange flavored gin
Shake with ice and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Fill up with soda. So you may be asking, what does this taste like Ms. Know-It-All if you didn't drink it? Good question. I honestly do not know. I'm featuring it because it sounds really, really good. Maybe it'll inspire you folk at home to go looking for this. In lieu of the Orange Gin Fizz, I just made a Green Gin Fizz instead last night (ingredients above, swap orange gin for regular and add a dash of creme de menthe) and pined for a lack of orange gin.
God loves a cheerful giver.
