The end of the year fast approaches and I still have some creme de violette! This drink is sweet with a slight citrus kick that I felt kind of took away from the gin, violette and cream. In the future I might only make this with lemon juice and skip the lime altogether.
Fizz a La Violette
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz creme de violette
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 oz cream
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a tall Collins glass. Fill up with ice and top off with soda. For this one with an egg white you need to shake hard. I mean really hard, your muscles are burning, you can barely hold onto the shaker because it’s sweating so much. Otherwise the proteins in the egg white won’t break apart, which creates the foam. You’ll just have a drippy, wimpy mess. Thanks to the violette this drink has the color of my childhood bedroom, light violet.
