Brightest Young Things

I love Amaretto. I love Amaretto on the rocks. I love it in highballs. Are there more ways to love Amaretto? Yes there are!

I like this one because it seems tailor made for people who think Amaretto neat or on the rocks is too sweet. It cuts the thickness, lightens the taste and does so without damaging the flavor. It's also incredibly easy and cheap. Preparing a drink a day is a lot more expensive than I'd like it to be.

Ferrari

  • 2 oz dry vermouth
  • dash Amaretto

Stir together in a highball glass with ice.

Amaretto for breakfast: Add a couple shots of Amaretto to your pancake batter (if you're making more than the 6-9 pancake suggestion). The alcohol burns off as you cook (most of it anyways, depending on how many pancakes you're making) and leaves a nutty, flavorful taste. Amaretto also goes nicely in orange juice for a different take on the breakfast cocktail. Take that, Mimosa/Bucks Fizz!

Amaretto for dinner: Adding Amaretto to chicken and other savory dishes adds a lovely touch of smoothness.

Amaretto for dessert: Use it as an ice cream topping (a lot of liquers can be used in this respect) and it greatly complements chocolate.

Amaretto for the holidays: Amaretto and Egg Nog. Enough said.

Amaretto mixed with _____ is delicious: Dr. Pepper, orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine, simple sugar and lemon juice, energy drinks (called a "Scarface"), ginger ale, tequila and Southern Comfort (called a "Pipe Bomb"), milk (I don't recommend it myself but hey, whatever floats your boat). Don't mix all of these with Amaretto, because while I love it and think it's truly multipurpose I think the end result would make even the hardest stomach vomit profusely.

God loves a cheerful giver.

I wouldn't know a 1:24 metal modal Ferrari if it walked up and slapped me on the ass.

and don't hate, Michael - this is actually good. just wait 'til I bring in some of the egg flips and corpse revivers.

Damned apostrophe got me again. I know it doesn't belong there. I don't see it in my brain housing group when I type the word, yet my fingers insist on inserting it. Why?
