Brightest Young Things

20071005fallenleaves

Mother nature seems to be taking the whole beginning of September thing very seriously this year. I'm not about to argue, it has been nice walking outside in the mornings when it's a bit crisp. Though not officially fall yet, I wanted to feature a cocktail that evokes the wonderfulness that is autumn. This one fits that bill. I have a few bottles of vermouth, and it seems I never use them. This is one drink with vermouth I can get behind, as it also includes Calvados and Brandy. This drink is a Charles Schumann original, dating from 1982.

Fallen Leaves

  • 3/4 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1/4 oz dry vermouth
  • 3/4 oz Calvados
  • dash Brandy

Stir with ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

God loves a cheerful giver.
