It's almost Christmas! This means for most of you, no work! Not for me though. I have to work through Christmas Eve. Some of you work on Christmas Day. Some of you are Jewish and could care less about Christmas. For all of the above, I present Cafe Grogg: alcohol mixed with hot coffee to keep you awake and make you tolerate people more around the holidays.
Cafe Grogg
- 1 1/2 oz rum
- 1/4 oz brandy
- 1/2 oz sugar
- Hot black coffee
In a mug add rum, brandy and sugar. Fill up with hot black coffee and add a lemon wedge. This one is actually...meh. A good way to sneak booze into your coffee when you want to be discreet, but the taste isn't doing it for me. Replace the coffee with tea and you essentially have a Hot Toddy variation which seems more appropriate. To me, coffee plus alcohol needs some cream to equal it all out. But if you like your coffee black you may enjoy this. Me...not so much. It just tastes off. I blame the lemon wedge.
