This classic comes to us from the Algonquin Hotel in New York.  It's a great melange of fruit and whiskey without the sugar of a Whiskey Sour.

Algonquin

  • 1 1/2 oz rye whiskey
  • 3/4 oz dry vermouth
  • 3/4 oz pineapple juice

Add in shaker with ice. Shake (hard!) and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Be sure to use rye whiskey, not Tennesee or Bourbon! Rye gives it that bitter, slightly peppery taste needed to pull off this cocktail.
