I like this one because it takes some effort and it's named for one of my favorite counties in Virginia. That is just an assumption on my part; clearly it could be named for any number of Albemarles. I could care less about those. I was just in Charlottesville this time last week and if I could have had any drink there, this would have been it.

Albemarle Fizz
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz gin
- 1/2 tsp sugar
Shake in iced cocktail shaker and strain into a highball glass. Fill with soda and float 1 tsp raspberry syrup. This tastes like something you'd get at Sonic, if DC actually had a Sonic nearby and not just a plethora of Sonic commercials. I am tempted to add fruit to it and bastardize it completely; maybe a lemon twist or a cherry. In short: delicious and sugary which is a deadly combination. This is definitely not for the folks who want to sit and sip a savory cocktail. This is an "Intro to Cocktails 101 For Those Who Have Only Had Applebee's Versions", which could be either horrible or wonderful depending on your mindset.
God loves a cheerful giver.
you have more than one favorite county in virginia?
i love this because i do love fizzy things, but also because the sonic is soooooo good. i miss the sonic too. and those comercials are just rude.
going home to oklahoma for a visit soon. i will probably stop by the sonic at least once a day while there...
on another sonic note - there is a place in my neighborhood in brooklyn called the dram shop. it's basically a sports bar made famous by their awesome burgers. the burgers remind me SO much of the best sonic burger you ever ate...
it so v. nice of you to speak so, victory. The cocktail lady is probably drunk as a skunk by now.
