...
TWO very full photosets, get Dakota's here, and Fitsum's here.
I have said this before and I will say this again: Never underestimate the power of a theme. People love a theme. No, make that: People LOVE A THEME.
Give them an occasion and they jump on it.
No more proof was needed than to see all the awesomeness that occurred on Saturday during BYT'S very, very sold out Green Masquerade @ House of Sweden. Sure it rained, leaving the rooftop available on and off, sure things got a little packed and sweaty on the dance floor (as they should be), sure the idea of a "green costume" was daunting, but we are ALL SO VERY PROUD OF YOU, YOU GUYS.
Everyone came out in force and in green and had (from what I could see from my frantic running around vantage point) an awesome time.
Many props to Kelly Towles for providing all original art work to be in photos and interact with, all very "Where the Wild things are" of him, and all on salvaged wood and reusable stickers.
Many props to the contortionist and the living tree for being awesome for hours on end (many props to Cale for ongoingly insisting we have performers of the burlesque/circus variety at all our events).
Many props to Nudie Jeans and Ecotourism for providing the awards to the costume contest (won by Crystal the leaf dress girl and the energy efficient Daft Punk Robots).
Many props to OnTheFly catering, RedBull, Flying Dog Ale, and Honest Tea for keeping everyone fed and happy.
Many props to all the professional athletes, Top Chefs and Cultural Attaches who partied hard with us
And many thanks to the awesome volunteers and staff who made everything run so smoothly.
It was the best of times, and, if you lost your underwear, sorry, we haven't found it yet.
See you next time.
First up, Dakota's shots:

And, Fitsum's shots:

amazing pics! i can't believe you snapped a photo of my tattoo without me even noticing...
bike prom was waaaay better!
I used to date a woman who described the Black Cat's aroma as a combination of armpit and hommos. Now, add a couple hundred rain and lager soaked cyclists. Yeah. Waaaay better, like four a's worth.
@d
a couple of times actually (you were standing next to the bar in the gallery with all the loud music. distractions). I'm pretty sure that I shot that before some time last year too ....
i love it when people compare apples to oranges (i.e. bike prom @ black cat to green masquerade @ house of sweden), it makes soooo much sense.
and it also reminds me why i love throwing kickass parties at kickass venues, like embassies! … sorry bike prom, next time we’ll try to aim a little bit higher and get the black cat, because lord knows, we’ve never done ANYTHING there.
I only think a comparison can be made if someone attended both events.
That said, Bike Prom was interesting.
seriously if anyone found my underwear please do return it my address should be on the waistband
Ok, everybody chill, I had a lot invested in the House of Sweden event and I think it turned out great. Really really great. I also swung by Bike Prom afterwards for a bit and it seemed like an awesome time. Hooray for two great completely different parties that were both packed going on at the same time. And we haven't even mentioned Fatback yet...
i wish i had been able to go to this, but i did go to bike prom and mdr/p&n and both were very enjoyable.
So, "green" was meant as a color, not as an eco-friendly theme? Did anyone do anything that was at all "eco-friendly"? Not to be snarky, but feathers and plastic foliage are not eco-friendly. [Maybe I am just a bit too sensitive to not using the "green" theme in vain . . . ]
i agree that you can't compare the two unless you went to both. bike prom was a great time (and didn't smell at all as fitsum implies), but the HoS thing looks like it was a blast. and isn't that what this post is about and not bike prom? sorry i missed it. fatback was fun, too, from what i remember..
sweet pics
I was at last year's bike prom for a minute. no one smelled like hommos.
It seems like everyone enjoyed themselves.
I was at both and both were great. The only unfortunate thing about HoS was the limited bar selection.
did anyone notice that the storm trooper mask is the exact piece needed to fill in the tiger's mouth? it's kinda perfect...

Looks like a fun time. Ida been there if I wasn't outta town. It sounds like Cale's dj set was well-received based on twitter chatter.
Jeff - I don't see a storm trooper mask, but I DO see a Clone Trooper helmet!
Well, this is lame. Not much revealed. That's because Fits doesn't in his pictures portray the privations of the poor. Nor Minnesota. Nothing but trust funders ad nauseum.
@Righteous (re)Style... yes, most were green as in color and yes there were lots of oil-based masks and accessories. For the record, my GF, Laura and I made our masks out of leftover Flying Dog 6 pack boxes. Green team, whut?!
Fantastic event, BYT.
