Clinic Listening Party + Giveaway

Liverpudlian indie rock mainstays Clinic are back with their fifth album ‘Do It!’, and a nice little tour swinging through DC and Baltimore. We have giveaways for both shows, first one tomorrow the 28th at the Cat, and the second on the 29th at Sonar. If you’d like a pair of tickets to either show just comment below and let us know you want them, and be sure to tell us which venue. We’ll send an email to both winners Wed morning.

And now a few tracks from the new album with commentary by vocalist/keyboardist Ade Blackburn.
Tomorrow - Henry Flynt and John Denver inspired acoustic song. The lyrics are actually about living in the day, as opposed to having your life mapped out for you. I especially like the creaky violin parts.
Free Not Free - a bit of fun and exotica. The rapid switches between the fuzz guitar and the very mellow verses, really sum up ‘Do It!’. The extremes from raw sound to melody. It was good to cut up the song structures like this and make it more playful.
Mary & Eddie - again, quite a ridiculous mixture, but still pop, from the foghorn to the jolly waltz outro. The lyrics describe a decadent Quaker who secretly wants to work in a bank or be in the Olympics.

More fun stuff at their weirdo web site: http://www.clinicvoot.org/
Once again, comment below if you want tickets!

May 27, 2008 at 11:31 amTickets to Clinic at Sonar? Lovely…… is a word close to describe the act of getting and giving away said tickets.

May 27, 2008 at 11:39 pmi’ll wear a mask to the blackcat show if you give me tickets :)
May 28, 2008 at 12:39 pmWith all due respect to my fellow comment-posters, I think think this contest was rigged. Mine was the only marginally-clever post, and yet I’ve yet to be notified that I have free Clinic tickets. WTF BYT? Did you give the tickets to your friends, or were there no tickets, or do you simply lack the intelligence to recognize wit? I feel I’ve been taken for a ride. Or maybe you can somehow tell that I’m ugly from my post.
May 28, 2008 at 2:58 pmJoe - often times we’ll pick a clever comment as the winner, sometimes it is random - this one was the latter. I was on my blackberry at a lunch meeting, had to send a name in quickly, did the first one I saw. Cool? Cool.
May 28, 2008 at 4:18 pmCale, you chose wisely. The truth is that I’m ugly and poorly-dressed and I would have totally sullied this event. I don’t think Clinic provides surgical masks for the audience, unfortunately.
May 28, 2008 at 4:37 pmHere at BYT we totally hate uggos.

i’m the reason clinic has to wear those masks… so please give me the tickets to the blackcat show!
