Brian Petro presents a show featuring a medium over which he has cogitated for years. Using a material which afforded his ancestors sustenance through mining, he has moved it to a fine art level. Layered on top of energetically and instinctively applied India ink on paper, Brian adds hand-crushed bituminous coal with facets that sparkle in the depths of the black on white contrast.
Danielle Madole creates a fresh series of compositions with classic roots and a modern sensibility. Inspired by fashion design and iconic pop art, she fuses original art with hand-made stencils to create silhouettes layered in color and texture.
