*****MENYA, FIRST DC APPEARANCE*****

Last night, NYC got drunk and woke up next to Menya; but this isn’t
just a one night stand. When given a laptop and a microphone, this
new trio is certain to get even the most uptight booty a-shakin’.
These talented 20-year-olds create explosive and undeniably fresh
songs, all of which they wrote, produced, and mastered themsevles.

Menya plays for the closet freaks of the world. Closet freaks who
like drum machines and hooks. Like, mad hooks.

Producer Good Goose brings together electro-clash, ska, hip-hop and
club music that gets heads bopping, while vocalist Coco Dame raps,
toasts, and sings as though she were the illegitimate child of Cyndi
Lauper and LL Cool J. Through it all, Angie Ripe wails on the
microphone with the velocity and passion of an old soul singer. When
you put them together…well…you don’t even WANT to know how ripe it
will get. Can you handle it?

Press of their debut EP, “The Ol’ Reacharound (2008)”

Nick Sansano (Producer - Le Tigre, Sonic Youth, Public Enemy)
“By beautifully bending style and gender, Menya manages to mix the
profane with the sentimental. The results are musical, danceable,
sexy, tender, and innocently obscene…so far, so good. The songs “DTF”
and “Ripe” show the dark and playful underbelly of pop gems like “Oh”
and “Suicide Queen”. On “Lonley” the producer successfully mashes an
LL Cool J slow jam with an infectiously melodic hip-pop dance chorus.
All in all, the group manages an extremely well crafted and well
performed debut release.”

*****AXIOS*****

Live music, live electronics, and lots of fun! Unsatisfied with the
lack of unique live performances present in the electronica scene
today, Ciganka and Grun teamed up to become Axios, and they put a spin
on electronic music that can only be accomplished with their
convenient backgrounds as Preschool Teacher and Engineer. See them
play a laundry list of genres spanning wonky techno, acid, chiptunes,
glitch, experimental electronics, drone, musique concrete, and much
more — all tied together in a sophisticated yet accessible manner,
and all done in a COMPLETELY COMPUTERLESS performance with mostly
modified and handbuilt electronics. Always fun and always different,
don’t miss a single show!

SPECIAL FEATURE!!!!! See Ciganka perform this night in a [first
ever?] 8 months pregnant set, as well as the performance debut of her
“Wombcore” concept — making beats from in-utero recordings of her
baby’s heartbeats.
