i like how “the new gay” totally ripped this idea off of “queerfest” held a couple of weeks ago at the black cat…expect to see the same tired old gays that you see at town/cobalt/jrs waving the banner of being “new” and “queer”
July 18, 2008 at 9:38 amYeah, that flyer is awful. It gives you all the information you need in a clear and concise format. And their site is actually readable and free of ads and multiple layers of scroll bars. My god, you can actually understand the posts and not get lost in a bunch of insider references. How awful.

July 18, 2008 at 1:53 pmthe old gay - why are you bashing our site in response to commenters who are not affiliated with us? They aren’t going to take offense to your sarcasm as they have nothing to do with BYT except read it.
July 18, 2008 at 1:58 pmCale, I apologize for the bashing, sort-of. Your site sets a standard to which your readers hold other sites. One of your readers commenting on another site’s design implies that they approve of your site’s design. If not, they wouldn’t read or they would be too busy criticizing your site. I’m not bashing BYT per se as much as I’m criticizing the basis of the commenter’s comparison.
The commenters on this site tend to be very hateful and it doesn’t appear that BYT does anything to reign that in. Implicit approval of such hatred is approval nonetheless.
July 18, 2008 at 2:15 pmActually I find the fact that BYT staff don’t delete or edit comments and allow readers to post their opinions, no matter how distasteful or offensive, to be very refreshing. Do I wish people weren’t so fucking cowardly and wouldn’t make patently anonymous comments? Of course. I make fun of shit all the time and don’t hide behind anonymity, but to control speech is something I never agree with.
So I am glad BYT’s approval is for free and open speech and commentary, whether people like what’s being said or not, because as soon as you start down the road to censure you will spend all your time policing comments that someone, somewhere finds offensive.
Censure is gay!
