This political season features the most anticipated political conventions in a generation. Delegates will swarm Minneapolis/St. Paul and Denver to devise a battle plan for assured victory in November. But other than political gadflies and party hacks trying to coalesce national unity, what exactly will happen that deserves our attention? Short answer: not a hell of a lot. As expected, there will be the coronations of McCain and Obama, protesters of every stripe will rally for their causes, and chamber of commerce folk will tout their town. But despite each city’s formal shill about “safe and friendly,” there will be temptation at every crossroads. Let UnConventionally Yours as we embrace political middle-of-the-roading, all the while keeping an eye out for the dust kicking up on the other side of the tracks. Because while politics are fun… temptation? It’s a gas!
Join us for a party celebrating premiere of Current TV’s 2-part guide to the seedy underbelly of the DNC & RNC. Trace Crutchfield (Vice/VBS/MTV) will be present to field questions, comments, and rotten tomatoes.
Following the screening, the one-and-only Ian Svenonius will step into the DJ booth and do that voodoo that he do.
