BYT Election Party 2008!

by Cale

November 4, 2008
3:00 pm

BYT and Bohemian Caverns are throwing a full-on election night carnival: 5 bucks all night, three floors of goodness.

The doors open at 3pm, so come after work as we’re gonna have some fun shit going on early. Like Twister. And a 20 foot bouncy boxing ring on the street. And moonbounce. And a fire breather. And cotton candy. And popcorn. And pie eating contests (not joking). And giant-fucking-jenga. I’m getting out of breath here. Earlier = better when it comes to election carnivals.

Most of the carnival stuff will be happening from 5pm-10pm so come early.

+ the Fatback DJ’s, Adrian Loving, and The Return of Party Bros (Chris Burns and Gavin Holland)
+ Pinatas
+ Kuku, Clarence “Bluesman” Turner, N’Digo Rose, Jessica Chambliss, Will Rast & the Funk Ark
+ Inflatable boxing PLUS moonbounce
+ hijinks
+ Projectors full of real time critical electoral stats and polls and JOHN STEWART ZOMG
+ Sarah Palin effigy (true)
+ Lasers
+ Champagne toast if when Obama wins
+ BYT Bikini Squad
+ Hugs (awkwardly long)
+ Awesome restaurant (with abbreviated=cheap menu items)
+ Merriment and celebration
+ Pie Eating Contest
+ Specials: Ciroc and Cuervo Platino, and “Ciroc the Vote” (ha!) Dem vs Rep cocktail thingies
+ Piggy back rides
+ Check out the parade in the streets when Barack is elected
+ Photoshoot with the real John “Maverick” McCain
+ Enjoyable conversation
+ More things I’m forgetting
+ 21+
+ It’s Cale’s Birthday!

3pm election day until they restore order on U street outside (2am+). Bohemian is on the corner of 11th and U St NW, as in directly between the U Street green line metro stops, as in heart of U street, as in you already know where it is.

Seriously, we had a whole discussion tonight on how high the ceiling is and whether or not it will fit all our sweet carnival gear. Take Wednesday off, socialist.

Michael Says:

I may stop by but leave long before the results are in so I don’t have to be around when people cheer because one shit sandwich won, or jeer because the other shit sandwich did.

Stephanie Says:

I read this the other day in one of those just-woke-up hazes and was excited, but promptly forgot because I was in-between worlds.

Then today I was talking to someone about my election day plans and for a moment I thought I had dreamed of this amazing-sounding funtime. But it wasn’t a dream! It’s really happening!

Cale Says:

Ha! We just had a long phone conversation about this tonight – I’m thinking we’ll kill the music and all collectively watch Daily Show (have the DJ’s sping during the commercials) and then back to partying.
