BELLMAN BARKER

My current favorite Washington, DC band, these dudes
are amazing. For fans of Belle and Sebastian and the
like.
“Anybody who is familiar with my personal musical
taste, knows how much of a feat it is for Bellman
Barker to get a nod on my best of list. This EP is
full of catchy, sun-drenched pop. The thing that makes
these songs stand out, is the substance that exists
behind them. Sugar usually washes away pretty quickly,
but not in this case.” -Instrumental Analysis
PRABIR AND THE SUBSTITUTES

Holy hell, are The Beatles still together? Is it the
60’s? You’d think it when you listen to these guys.
Incredible stuff.
“…There’s something remarkable in how keenly Prabir
and his boys grasp and embody the essentials of rock
‘n’ roll that we all know and love, but that most
bands fail to grasp. Combining a classic ’50s
rhythm-and-blues foundation, ’60s pop harmonies, and
the showmanship of a heavily caffeinated ’70s soul
group, The Substitutes capture all the freshness of
the British Invasion by injecting just enough modern
quirk to make it sound new. Still managing to keep the
momentum, the group even stepped off the stage mid-set
to favor us with a barbershop-style a cappella number
before returning to their instruments to bring the
first leg of the evening to a crashing close….”
Subsonic, Nashville, TN.
THE PRIVATE SEA
myspace.com/theprivatesea
Philadelphia indie-rock with some shoegaze parts that
remind me of My Bloody Valentine and Mojave 3, very
beautiful stuff!
“Philadelphia five-piece The Private Sea injects
detectable longing in well-pitched hooks, handing
their songs over to the right anthem-making
risks—brooding textures, teasing swells, magnetic
harmonies and a batch of influences ranging from
Spiritualized to The Jesus & Mary Chain.” - The
Independent Weekly, Chapel Hill
This will be starting at 8PM, and we will be asking
for a $5-$7 dollar donation due to two of the bands
being on tour! Come out and enjoy some beautiful
music! And if you wish, BYOB. But please, we live
here, so don’t make a mess.

I’m gonna go ahead and out myself as a bona fide loser by asking, what/where is The Party Pit?
