For Black History Month, The Montpelier Arts Center is delighted to exhibit the art of Lou Stovall. The prints in this exhibition will consist of some of his own compositions as well as several collaborations. Mr. Stovall is a renowned printmaker who through his printmaking company, Workshop, Inc., has created a flourishing artistic community in the District of Columbia. Through this company he has been commissioned and recognized in printing for many artists such as Jacob Lawrence and David Driskell. Several prints by artists Sam Gilliam, Peter Blume and Lois Jones will be included in the exhibition. The print Autumn by Peter Blume meticulously uses 120 screen printed colors. Mr. Stovall will exhibit many of his own prints that are either purely abstractions or abstract representations of landscape such as Spring Showers Major that loosely resembles a landscape with patches of colors and repetitive lines.
