A renowned pop star, Bollywood playback singer, and television celebrity, Kailash Kher is one of the leading figures in Indian pop music today. He shot to fame in 2004 with his hit Allah ke Bandhe. Together with Naresh and Paresh Kamath-fixtures on the Indian rock & pop scene-Kher formed the band Kailasa in 2005. Combining Kher's strong traditional folk sensibilities and lyrics invoking Sufi mysticism with Naresh and Paresh's more modern rock, electronic, and funk influences, Kailasa has proved to be a big hit with audiences in India and around the world.

India is home to a million art forms, both traditional and modern. March 1-20, 2011, maximum India brings you perhaps not a million, but many wonderful and unusual aspects of the country's diverse arts and culture, from folkloric to classical and contemporary. India amazes with the majesty and mystery of its culture. Its brilliance is that it is a country of extremes-intellect, innovation, survival, and experimentation. We have traveled, researched, and scoured the country for the best it can offer, and India offers the maximum. This festival will truly be maximum INDIA.

The Kennedy Center stages free performances on its Millennium Stage in the Grand Foyer every night of the year at 6:00pm. Featured on the Millennium Stage are a range of art forms, including performing artists and groups from all 50 states and an Artist-in-Residence program featuring artists performing several evenings in a month.
