Mentally prepare yourself to have this one on repeat:
A day a go, Secretly Canadian (which, in my opinion, can do no wrong) released the first of the planned 3 12″s of a new act called Music Go Music which sounds like a love child between ABBA, ELO and your favorite song when you were 14.
The label describes it as:
a true celebration of pop music’s potential - laying a thin sheen of magic over the world around it, and making the tedious bits of the human experience a little less so
In short, it is the sonic equivalent of popping some prozac with your coffee in the morning and you need it.
listen to “Light of Love” here:
and then waste no time as:
the MP3 is ready to be plucked here

p.s. there is much speculation about the identity of the mysterious (and “mythical” as the press says) front woman Gala Bell, fueled with air brushed art, semi-obscured live photos and all sorts of “ABBA offspring” folklore, but from what I can see (and I tend to be right about this) and hear we’re dealing with Meredith from the just as wonderful (and SC labelmates) Bodies of Water. Who also have a (terrific) new record coming out.
Well done little lady.
p.p.s. If someone now tells me that ALL the blogs are writing about this and I stole it from pitchfork, here is a side note: SOMETIMES (read that: ALL THE TIME) a press release arrives to everyone’s doorstep and EVERYONE gets excited. And everyone wants to write about it. And they should.
p.p.p.s. After this go to their myspace and listen to the other 2 tracks. Equal magic.

I am excited for this. I LOVE bodies of water. Their show backstage was easily the best music performance I have seen this year so far. They are totally electrifying live, and I have high hopes for their record and this project.
Plus, the Boris Vallejo art is awesome.
