MP3 Picks of The Week: Super Supergrass

MP3 Picks of The Week: Super Supergrass

December 9, 2007 by Svetlana Send to a Friend Send to a Friend

This week we have a precedent: Only good music included. (I figured I owed it to you after subjecting you to that whole Brian Wilson rapping debacle last week)

1. Supergrass, “Diamond Hoo Ha Man”
I always felt that Supergrass is one of the more underestimated bands of the last decade. They have a new song up on myspace that a. Has possibly the best name ever and b. Out-White Stripes the White Stripes so much so that it almost makes Jack and Meg obsolete (did I just say this?). Kick ass.

2. The Breeders, “We’re Gonna Rise’”
This is The Breeders you remember. And that’s a good thing.
Question though, does this mean Pixies broke up again?

3. Deerhoof, “Holy Night Fever”
A whole ALBUM’S WORTH of b-sides, rarities, random live mash-ups and more.
FOR FREE.

4. Celebration - “Fly the Fly” (Holy Fuck Remix)
The only way to keep warm in this weather is to keep on dancing. So, say thank you to Celebration and Holy fuck with providing us with this week’s dance floor gold.

5. Love is All Remixes
Love is all is releasing a “Nine times the same song” remixes this January. This album was one of my favorite things from 2 years a go, and while I’d much rather have them release some new stuff, I guess we can all settle for this for now.
Now, stop remixing and start songwriting.

6. Sunset Rubdown, “Idiot Body”
It isn’t an “MP3 picks” post unless there is a Daytrotter song on it.
Spencer Krug is a busy man so maybe that is why this Sunset Rubdown sounds a little bit Wolf Paradeish.

7. She and Him feat. Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, “Sentimental Heart”
One of the more unlikely music pairings keeps providing disarming music. Almost makes me feel that that the upcoming Zooey Deschanel debut album will be, well, good. At least for those among us that like their music in dresses. And I do.

“Out-White Stripes the White Stripes”? now i know what you mean… those guys rawk! that was a solid recommendation for sure.

breeders, yes! i love the deal sistas. especially kim, being the pixies fan that i am. and i never knew that tanya donelly had anything to do with the breeders and frankly didn’t think she was in the same league as kim at all (feed the tree? hello?)
nice picks…
