What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This week is a good one: Band of Horses, Britney is back, Ramones take on Louis, Chromeo and Noah Baumbach has a new movie, with a song in it.
1.Band of Horses, “Is There a Ghost”
A few weeks back I asked to interview Band of Horses before their 930 club show. They politely declined as they were busy working on their new material. I forgive them because this song is a masterpiece of restrained heartbreak. Well done, boys.

2.The Ramones - What A Wonderful World
Hilly Kristal (the owner of CBGB) died on August 28th. MusicSlut decided that this seminal punk take on the seminal Louis Armstrong song is an appropriate requiem of sorts. We agree.

3.The Swimmers, “The Ocean Lifts Her Dress”
As the summer ends, curl yourself up with some literally literary pop and feel the breeze. The gem of an EP by the swimmers is not yet officially released and only available at their shows BUT you can get it zipped and ready to download via I am Fuel
4.Britney Spears, “Why Did You Desert Me?”
We could ask you the same question Britney.

5.Chromeo, “Fancy Footwork (Guns’N’Bombs Remix)”
Guns'n'Bombs are kicking some major remix ass this week. This one is for Cale.

5a. Teenagers "Homecoming (Gun's and Bombs Remix)
Did I mention Guns'n'Bombs are kicking some major remix ass this week? This one is for me.

6.Ghosthustler, “Parking Lot Nights”
Someone else said it better than me, so I will quote: If you’ve ever listened to the theme from Beverly Hills Cop and wished somebody would do some sort of no-fi Nintendocore reimagining, then today is the luckiest day of your life.

7. Phantom Planet, "Our House" (CSNY cover)
Noah Baumbach is God. (every week needs one) I can quote "Kicking and Screaming" (the DING!-not-the-Will Farrell-one) and "Mr. Jealousy" and "Squid and the Whale" ad infinitum, and am looking forward to adding his new "Margot at a Wedding" to my repertoire. So to celebrate it here is a nice little song, by the nice little band that also did the OC theme song and in general have a knack for turning out perfect pop-celluloid gems.

and here is the Margot trailer, just because.
