Half-highly danceable, Half-highly heartbreakable, you seriously need EVERY single song on this week’s list.
And you need it now.

1. The Whitest Boy Alive “Golden Cage” (Fred Falke Remix)
I will be the first one to admit it-I’m really not one for remixes. As is the case with many girls (just ask them, they’ll tell you) we can only really love the version of the song we first fell head over heels with. So, the fact that I am posting this as a remix should tell you something.
Whitest Boy Alive’s Erlend Oye has a voice destined for disco greatness and this song is on multiple repeats in my “dancing in my underwear” quarters. (aka my bedroom).
Succumb to it NOW.

2. Cut Copy “Ghost Colours”
And while you’re there get yourself some Cut Copy. Which is awesome enough (and I quote) :to change your myspace profile song to, so you can say, “Yeah. That was my profile song like 6 months ago” in 4 months.

then listen to this:
and be highly excited for when they pass through town with Black Kids in a month or two.
3. Grosvenor “Drive your car”
Because Cale is hipper to the scene than anyone, he had “Nightmoves” by Grosvenor on his “best of 2007″ CD, which is kind of a slick, tongue-in-cheek, Lionel-Ritchie-is-my-frenemy affair.
Now, remixed by the rest of his Hot Chip band….Grosvenor invites you for a smooth, smooth cruise.

which should nicely ease us into our slinkier portion of the post (no bopping allowed)
4. French Kicks “Abandon”
French Kicks are back and they sound exactly like you would hope they would judging from the elegant pop cloudiness of the lead track “Abandon,” which subtly folds hand claps, strings, and instantly familiar riffs into guitarist/vocalist Josh Wise’s daydreaming.

5. Karl Blau “Late King’s Daughter”
Karl Blau wrote an album (A.M) as an ode to A.A.Milne (the author of Winnie The Pooh) which comes out on Tuesday and seems as trippy and amazing as the whole concept promises. Sample here:

6. The Watson Twins, “Just Like Heaven”
Joel always says: “I thought Jenny Lewis was pretty hot, but then I saw the Watson Twins”. Anyway, they are back and if this Cure cover, taken from their upcoming non-Jenny effort does not slay you, then well, you have issues (ie, not having a heart)

7. Basia Bulat, “True Love Will Find You in the End” (Daniel Johnston cover)
A lovely, lovely daytrotter session cover.

Fred Falke proves he doesn’t need Alan. Been sending that one around all week, so good.
