This week, I’ll just get down to business as I wasted enough time and braincells yesterday to make a coherent intro. But I’d say that the theme is mostly upbeat and mostly awesome (plus, purposefully not including REM or Death Cab because who wants to start a Monday with that? Not me)

1. Mystery Jets, “Half in Love With Elizabeth”
Mystery Jets album is out tomorrow, and it is going to be everyone’s favorite record for this week.
They deserve a proper post, but this song is
a. so good
and
b. has such a good name, we had no choice but to include away.

and while we’re in Anglophilia land, everyone put their hands together for
2. Jarvis Cocker, “Girls Like It Too” (live)
damn good.
and damn right.

3. The Sound of Arrows, “Danger!”
Because sometimes, you just need to whip out that long planned “Wham!” choreography and unleash it onto the unsuspecting public. You heard it here first.

and then (I was easing you into this):
4. Bilkk Fang, “Nupital Eagles Sharpened”
To quote NY Magazine: This song sounds like what would happen if Kevin Barnes from Of Montreal and some dude from MGMT teamed up to do a Misfits cover, because that’s exactly what this is. Yes, your cerebral cortex is exploding.
Well, mine certainly is.

and speaking of collaborating
5. Big Boi feat. André 3000, “Royal Flush”
Now, one would think that a song with Big Boi AND Andre would be an Outkast song?
One would think that.
And one would apparently be wrong.
Bonus: Andre is rapping.

6. Men Without Pants, “And the Girls Go”
Some heavy breathing, a song that would not be out of place on the “Jawbreaker” soundtrack and Dan The Automator.
What’s not to love.
MP3 here via Stereogum
and finally…
7. Fuck Buttons, “Ribs Out”
Fuck Buttons are in DC this week (with Caribou-amen!) and while there is a listening party en route….enjoy this slice of something that sounds like “zoo animals singing along to an Autechre record.”

LOVE this list, Svetlana.
