When I first started writing this column a few months a go, it was such a daunting task to even figure out WHAT music blogs are out there, let alone be able to source through them. But now I know my Cool Kids from my Black Kids, my Cut Copy from my Cloud Cult and my Boris from my Cornelius and am 100% addicted to the buzz of hearing a new song that makes you go “AAAAAH” that I cannot stop. So, look forward (or backward) to maybe more than one of these a week.

1. Cool Kids, “Action Figures”
If you missed the Cool Kids when they were here with MIA, don’t miss this undeniable beat tastic jam about crazy uncles, cops and a few other things thrown in for good measure.

2. Boris, “Your Points Is the Umbrella”
Aaaaah, to be Japanese, have a crazy Russian band name, maintain extremely enviable manes of hair and make screaming art rock.

3. Cloud Cult, “When Water Comes to Life”
starting slow and tender, like an angel choir and ending in thunderstorms Cloud Cult’s new track is this week’s “2080″, or “Skeleton man”, ie…all mess and all terrific.

4. The Roots, “75 Bars (Black’s Reconstruction)”
Predictably kick ass.

5. Ghost Bees, “Tasseomancy”
These Halifax bred band is like the second coming of Joanna Newsom, but creepier. Be prepared to leave that bedside light on tonight, but also to fall in love.

6. Grizzly Bear, “While You Wait for the Others” (live on KCRW)
Annie Clark’s favorite band leaks a new song and in all its hypermelodic, hyperbolic, hyper-everything glory it is probably the best song I heard all week.

7. The B-52’s, “Hot Corner”
I am as surprised as you are. And will just note New York Magazine when they say: When Fred Schneider hollers “Hey y’all, last call! Last chance to dance!” he’s probably talking to his own aging bandmates. But if you didn’t know any better, you’d never guess that this was recorded almost two decades after “Love Shack

8. Plants & Animals “Bye Bye Bye”
Thankfully NOT an ‘N Sync cover band, Plants & Animals come off an the spawn of Animal Collective and Arcade Fire, and that means that any second now, Pitchfork and Stereogum will fall desperately in love with them, and create buzz so deafening the backlash will be inevitable. So, enjoy this while you can.
