Brightest Young Things

Due to me being dead this weekend this column is a few days late, but certainly not short of anything.
Enjoy:

1. Elvis Costello, "Stella Hurt"
Is there a better mid-week present than being able to listen to some new Elvis Costello?
I didn't think so.

2. Britney Spears, "Something More"
Is there a worse mid week punishment than being forced to suffer through yet another failed attempt at a comeback by Britney?
Didn't think so.

3. Cansei de Ser Sexy, "Rat Is Dead (Rage)"
I have this love/hate thing going with CSS where I hate that I sometimes love them. In all honesty, this song is a filler since I want to do separate posts on both the Wedding Present and Oasis new stuff.
Plus, their bass player just left them since touring is not "green enough".
They need some love.

4. Dunproofin', "Alphaboot"
To quote New York Magazine: This amazing mash-up of Danish band Alphabeat with the Futureheads inspiring cover of a Kate Bush track (does that make this a cover-up?) is about 50 percent guitar, 70 percent background vocals, and 110 percent fun.

MP3 here via Mashuptown

5. Santogold, "Your Voice"
I've said this before (namely when I was screaming at Chris and Cale a few months a go when they didn't know who Santogold was) and I will say it again: SHE CAN DO NO WRONG.
The new album is leaked, all over and ready to be used and abused by you.

6. Dark Meat: "Dead Man"
On repeat.

MP3 here via Pitchfork

and finally

7. All Lykke Li, all the time
The Lykke Li EP came out yesterday in the US. The blogs and me cannot have enough of it.
Dance. Dance. DANCE.
And try to forget that while her (and Perro del Mar) were in Philadelphia yesterday and in NYC tomorrow, they are NOT STOPPING IN DC.
w.t.f?
