So, as you may have heard one of Baltimore’s finest, Blaqstarr is descending upon DC and RNR Hotel this weekend with his particular brand of “violent, futuristic soul music,” (Diplo said that, I quoted).
So, we scored some downloads to get you going, plus Gavin (of Nouveau Riche who are throwing this little party) did a quick Q&A with the man himself:

and some words below:
Gavin: First off — there’s an article in URB magazine which implies that Blaqstarr is two people. True?
Blaqstarr: Blaqstarr is only one person (me) and JB Starr Productions is the company that me and my brother JBeezy owns.
Gavin: A lot of people would say you make “Baltimore Club” music. Is that accurate?
Blaqstarr:I can make club music, but I call what I do Baltimore Roq music.
Gavin: You recently played some dates in Sweden. When you first started DJing and making music, did you picture yourself touring in Scandanavia? How did they react to the music?
Blaqstarr:When I first started DJing, I pictured myself a lot further than where I am now. They loved me in Sweden. I’m thinking of becoming a resident very strongly.
Gavin:Do you consider your music to be “experimental”? How do your songs come about?
Blaqstarr: My songs are experimental in a way because I don’t think of what Im bout to make, just feel it.
Gavin: Any juicy stories from SXSW?
Blaqstarr: it was lovely. People get down in the Texas “A” town.
Gavin: It’s become quite popular for producers to use a “Baltimore style” in their production… what sets you apart from other Baltimore producers, and what sets you apart from other producers in general?
Blaqstarr:Alright. Imma tell you alittle secret…. Im from space.
Gavin: I’ve read that it was Scottie B’s tracks that made you want to start making music yourself. Tell us about Scottie B.
Blaqstarr:You know how there’s always your favorite song in different genres? Well, Scottie made a track called “Wild For The Night” back in the day with a Busta Rhymes sample… STRAIGHT MURDA!!! That was the only club song back then that I rocked to.
Gavin: When you team up with someone, such as D.O.G., Diplo, Rye Rye, or M.I.A… what are you looking for in an artist?
Blaqstarr:I work good with artist because I go off vibes for elements to use.
Gavin: What made you decide to get on the Mad Decent team? How do you see yourself fitting in to their “world music” roster… or do you?
Blaqstarr:Doing business with Mad Decent has been great. I’m giving the world raw elements of dance music.
Gavin:Who are you feeling right now in terms of production?
Blaqstarr:Timbaland and Dj Paul.
Gavin: What song are you most excited to let loose on the system Saturday night?
Blaqstarr:All of them!!!
and that is that kids. Be here Saturday
