Califone has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. Criminally overlooked, they have album after album of beautiful experimental indie alt-country. I just picked a song at random. And listen to how good it is. They also put on one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot.
If you want a good place to start with Califone I recommend their 2003 album Quicksand/Cradlesnakes, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them.
