I've posted a lot of TMBG songs over the years. And I'll prob post many more. Last week I saw Neil deGrasse Tyson give a highly entertaining talk at Lisner. He is like the Carl Sagan of our generation. But funnier. He's a wicked smart author, Nova Science Now host, frequent TV talk show guest, and director of NYCs Hayden Planetarium. He has been at the center of the Pluto as a planet "controversy" for a number of years now, and wrote a book on the subject (I reviewed it here). His position is a) Pluto isn't a planet and b) it doesn't matter anyway cause whether something is a planet or not doesn't tell you anything about it. I've been astro-high all week after seeing him and then this song from TMBG came up on shuffle. It's How Many Planets? from their latest kids album, and they seem to subscribe to Tyson's reasoning by never actually answering the question and name dropping a number of large asteroids, dwarf planets and Kuiper belt objects. I love that kids are growing up listening to this stuff.
