When you're a DJ, the first set of the night is a tricky thing. Low pressure because there usually aren't a lot of people there yet, but it's your job to set the tone and get everyone feeling sexy, relaxed, and ready to dance. It's a tightrope, Spud. A fookin' tightrope.
Enter Shalamar's "A Night to Remember." Mid-tempo with a solid kick to it, positive lyrics, and the opening vocal would sound awesome in a mostly empty club space. That echo? Chills. Plus the video appears to suggest that the band's about to have a threesome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVAm_obRPQ8) and Wikipedia tells me that, "in the season three finale of 'Girlfriends,' Toni Childs-Garrett and her friends dance down the aisle to it." Sold!
