Dock Boggs was a seminal American folk singer who recorded a dozen old-time banjo songs in the 20s and then promptly gave up music. That is until 1963 when folk music scholar Mike Seeger tracked him down and got him recording and touring again (how cool is that?). Born in south west Virginia at the border of Kentucky and Tennessee, Boggs pioneered a mix of Appalachian folk music and African American blues. And 80 years later he still has an influence, Eagles of Death Metal paid homage to this stand out track 'Sugar Baby' in their song 'Kiss the Devil'.
