Watched The Warriors: Super Special Director's Cut or whatever last night. First of all it's amazing how ugly everyone is in that movie. Like being attractive was not a pre-requisite to being a movie star in 1979. Then there are these interviews with the producers and stuff gushing about how great the movie is. And they're totally serious. The director is comparing it to Greek mythology and shit. Pretty ridiculous. Anyway, the movie is almost unwatchable, but the theme song is a pretty amazing piece of synth-rock.

God loves a cheerful giver.
I don't know if anyone in The Warriors can be considered "moviestars..." either then or now. Save that 1 chick who leaves the Orphans and joins up with the Warriors, she had/has a career, right?
:Quick IMDB search:: Deborah Van Valkenburgh is her name.
Movie almost unwatchable? Watch you street cred here, Cale... it might take a knock. Some pretty serious hiphop history has come out of that film and therefore IT IS legendary.
As for that song... completely agree. I've talked to The New Deal (www.thenewdeal.ca) about covering that jam. Nothing yet.
"telling the story of romans who traveled thousands and thousands of miles away from home, only search to get back. once they find that ocean, they know they've reached home..." hahahaha! coney island from lafayette avenue! AND...that one gal's career peaked in "too close for comfort"...she wasn't even the shining star in that show, monroe was
Right, I just meant if the movie was made these days they wouldn't have hired someone with extensive neck acne.
I'm not doubting it's cult status and cultural relevance, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a pretty terrible film.
Dude, I love The New Deal! They need to come back here soon.
i couldn't take a single moment of this movie seriously. just awful.
The giraffe is my favorite mammal.
Michael, shut the fuck up.
I wouldn't call it "amazing", Cale
Fair enough, I tend to overuse the word. But actually I said "pretty amazing" to dial it back a notch, so I stand by that. Giraffes on the other hand are Amazing with capital A.
