I think it was 1994 when my cousin first played The Globe for me. It was by Big Audio Dynamite, or technically Big Audio Dynamite II, as it was the second incarnation of Clash guitarist Mick Jones solo project. Not that I had any clue who The Clash were at that time. Anyway, I immediately high speed dubbed the hell out of it and was obsessed for a number of years, especially the hit single Rush, which I felt I was pretty good at singing along to (I wasn't). When my tape deck broke in 1997 I never bothered to replace The Globe, instead opting for some career retrospectives on CD. I had forgotten how enjoyable the rest of the album was though until I downloaded it yesterday. Also I love the evolution of the cover, first the 1990 UK-only version when it was called Kool-Aid:

to the 1991 wider release expanded version The Globe:

God, how did things get so uncool in only one year? Ok, so here is I Don't Know, it's no Rush, but it's still a lot of fun:

Who really still kicks ass is Vivaldi, Cale. Many of his pieces are vastly superior to this. Every single one of them, actually.
Ernest, this is an indie rock web site, and while I was listening to Cecilia Bartoli's Vivaldi Album just this past Friday, I am by no means an expert on baroque composers. Also our readers, for the most part, are more interested in Big Audio Dynamite. Perhaps you should focus your comment efforts here instead: Classical Song of the Day
i was merely saying this was a weak song, Cale. And BAD were no indie.
You weren't merely saying that. If you were merely saying that you would say it was weak, but saying that Vivaldi is better than something doesn't mean that something is by default weak. There are plenty of good songs out there that Vivaldi is still better than.
Technically no, Columbia Records is not an independent record label, but I never said that. I said this was an indie rock web site, and indie rock kids like to also listen to the music that influenced modern indie rock. The Clash certainly falls under that category, thus BAD does too. Not that everything I post here has to strictly fall into a certain category, as by my track record it certainly does not (yesterday was Weird Al for Christ's sake) but constantly pointing out that the music on this site is inferior to the great classical composers is pointless.
