BYT Favorite Song Of The Day

BYT Favorite Song Of The Day

I was pretty gung-ho about playing a song I loved when I was in college today.
Which narrowed it down to any variation of Shins/Death Cab/Postal Service/Mates of State and maybe some Mazzy Star. Because in 2002 and 3, I was that person.

So, after I spent an hour looking for a good enough quality MP3 of “When I goose step” and deciding against both “Clark Gable” and “Caring is Creepy” as too obvious, and “Flowers in December” as too unseasonal, you end up with this: Postal Service and their Phil Collins cover of “Against all Odds”, which actually is kind of awesome in a really creepy (and caring way), way too fuzzed out for its own good way.
Kind of like a robot stalker song.
You know you have memories to go with this.

Yeah 5-7 years ago was a great time for indie rocks. I’d argue it was on par with the late 60s or early 90s in terms of popularization and revitalization of an underground genre. Esp. when you compare it to the late 90s which was such a cultureless wasteland it made the Foo Fighters seem like iconoclastic punk warriors.

That said, Phil Collins is my personal savior.

Much rather find out that Stephin Merritt had taken a poke at reimagining this song.

BTW, take me to a karaoke and I will show you how this jam was meant to be rocked.

Ironic, they serve alcohol at most karaoke places. No one wants to see you pass out on stage.

Oh man I totally fked up “Invisible Touch” the other night at Japone. That junx is harder than it sounds.

Why do they never have “Can’t Hurry Love” on those damn machines…(the far superior PC version I mean)…
