Brightest Young Things

Do you like the Beatles? (trick question). Do you wish they just, somehow, had more songs? (again, trick question) Well, if the answer is what it should be then you will be thrilled to hear today's song selection:
In 1983 The Times, a band that knows their way around power pop, released this homage to Patrick McGoohan's cult favorite spy/allegorical show The Prisoner (which notoriously (in some circles) used "All You Need Is Love" in it's final episode (side note: a heavily hyped remake of the show is hitting AMC this Sunday, in case you care).
The song itself is so mind-blowingly similar to "I Want To Hold Your Hand" that you wonder how they did not get sued. Probably because if Beatles heard it, they loved it.
The video is pretty sweet too (scroll to the bottom for it)

that was pretty awesome.....im also inclined to believe that them ripping off the beatles was more of an 'honour' than a mistake on their end. the dialogue towards the end was priceless..."YOU ARE # 6" -

it would be pretty rad if you took all the "song of the day"'s and zipped them and offered that to the BYT readership.

what do ya say?!?

I always loved these British blasts that circled around an actual person they didn't know. We should do a whole week with that theme starting with The Pooh Sticks "I Know Someone Who Knows Someone Who Knows Alan McGee Quite Well."

i say zipped songs of the day would be super nice.

also, this song is neither "an honor" nor " rip off" but a spoof, more like.
