On Thursdays you have to pick a song carefully.
You want to get amped for the weekend but you don’t want to burn your fuse too fast.
So, while I was about to bust some Sebastien Tellier on everyone, upon reflection, I changed my mind and am bringing you: “The Night is the Day Turned Inside Out” by Beulah.
You can find this nugget on their “The coast is never clear” album, which I downloaded after emusic told me (and I listened) that this is one of the best summer albums of all time.
Not really sold on the record as a whole, but this song is perfect.
It may make you hate the fact that you are in the office instead of driving up PCH with your windows down, but aside from that-perfect.
And the trumpets.
The trumpets!!!
More songs should open with trumpets. More!!!

Svetlana - pretty much all ska music starts with trumpets. Trumpets!
(This song does nothing for me).

Becca I promise to listen to the album once more.
But just once.
my mind is so blown that you don’t absolutely love Beulah.
August 21, 2008 at 7:59 amIt’s almost like we’re still live-typing.
I decided I don’t like the word blog or any of its variants.
August 21, 2008 at 8:55 amNOBODY likes the word “blog”. I don’t understand how it caught on.
August 21, 2008 at 9:25 amSvet - I’m not a big ska fan either. You would have enjoyed the fuck out of that Ex show.
Becca - I know. It grates me.
August 21, 2008 at 10:52 amYou guys aren’t fans of Jamaican ska (Skatalites, Heptones) or you aren’t fans of UK/US ska (Specials, Mighty Bosstones, Pietasters)?
