Ok, still feeling spacey, let's do more space songs.
It's impossible not to listen to Meco's disco rendition of the Star Wars theme without thinking it's inherently funny. But I mean, people were taking it pretty seriously in 1977, right? It's so charmingly cheesy, and I can't experience it any other way, but I want to know what it's like to appreciate it on a real level. Sigh.
My fav piece of trivia on Meco from wikipedia:
He temporarily left the music industry in 1985. After three years of "doing nothing but playing golf" he started to work as a commodity broker in Florida.
Even weirder than the original is this single edit from a 70's pop collection I have where they annoyingly tack on audio news clips representative of the time at the end of some of the songs. This one is extra inappropriate.
