The Who had no business writing one of their best songs in 1982. Beautiful Swimmers whipped it out towards the end of the day at BYT Summer Camp, and I must say, it was a surprisingly perfect choice. It's also just about the only song they can still do live (the highlight of their otherwise shoddy first Virgin Fest appearance), since Townshend handles most of the vocal duties. A remastered version came out in 1997, which toned down the aggressive stereo on the vocals (a good thing) but also "corrected" the "flaw" where Daltrey and Townshend are off sync (a bad thing). I always loved that about it, and had assumed it was intentional. Like he was jittery from all the coke. An 80's update to the stuttering of 1965.
