Today’s song was going to be a Pippettes song. It is summer, it just felt right to bust out some “Pull Shapes” or something. But then my inner “lets do something a little more obscure” devil reared its (ugly) head and I decided to instead do this gem by Monster Bobby (who, incidentally is the mastermind behind the glossy product that is The Pippettes).
Now…I am a big Monster Bobby fan.
I like the way he can write the most perfect pop song in the world (and all his songs are exactly that, listen to “Bedtime Baby” on his myspace and tell me it is not every note as good as anything Jens Lekman ever wrote) and then just sort of fucks with it till its all messed up like a pretty girl waking up after a rough night with her make up all mussed up.
She IS still pretty, but a little more human.
Some may say: Why mess with perfection?
But I say: As long as you don’t ruin things, have fun.
This song my friends and frenemies, is just like that.
