This week is a quick round-up of what’s going on in the blogs. We got sushi, some Emeril, doing good for Haiti, some ideas for Halloween and a picture of delicious fried clams.

Planet Green is looking for residents in the Washington, D.C. metro area who love to cook but have a tough time making heads or tails of what’s in the fridge, or are wondering how to be eco-friendly while still deep-frying a turkey.

This is a chance for amateur chefs to receive cooking tips and recipes tailored specifically to their needs by America’s most beloved chef—Emeril Lagasse! Discovery’s new network is currently casting enthusiastic and fun people with creative and interesting cooking challenges for the all new series Emeril Green, which began airing in July.

Monday, October 27, through Monday, November 3 Oyamel, for one week, will transform itself into a Dia de los Muertos scene with a special menu designed by Mexican-cooking authority and author Diana Kennedy.

Friday, October 31 2941 is doing a dessert called Eye Scream, composed of Valrhona white chocolate, pistachio mousse, and raspberry-lychee coulis, presented on a bed of dry ice. 

PX is making the Black Ghost, a mix of squid ink, black-olive juice, vodka, and dried ice. 

Friday, October 31, through Sunday, November 2 Restaurant 3 is doing several cocktails including Spider Cider (Captain Morgan’s rum, butterscotch schnapps, and caramelized-apple purée), the Jack-o-lantini (vodka, pumpkin syrup, and white-cranberry juice), the Vampire Blood cocktail and Boo-Berry Hill. 

And with that folks I’m on vacation. Wish me luck as I eat all the fried clams in New England.

Sooo jealous - have a great time eating your way through New England! Looking forward to some reports back on the fried clam bonanza. If you go north to lobster country be sure to stick to pounds that boil in sea water - makes a huge difference in taste and the very fact that they have access ensures freshness.
