Weekly Food News Round-Up!

Weekly Food News Round-Up!

  • Ridiculously amazing and world-renowned chef Alain Ducasse is opening Adour at the St. Regis on Monday. Find an occasion to go, and hopefully someone to pay.
  • Melissa from Counter Intelligence is a girl after my own heart. Here she has a listing of weekday deals on wine. Three wine pours and an antipasti trio at Dino for $25 sounds like the perfect dinner to me.
  • I haven’t worked downtown in a while so I’ve missed the resurgence of DC food carts, which makes me sad. But something that makes me happy is the news that Pedro and Vinny’s burrito cart is coming back. Expect to see owner John Rider and his mango salsa on 15th and K very soon. It’s the only burrito in town I like. I’m curious, where do you think there’s a burrito worth getting in this town?

The Well Dressed Burrito is my fav. It’s delicious and I appreciate the sketch factor from purchasing a burrito from a resteraunt that’s only open for two hours a day and is located in an ally…

Oysters are pretty high up there on my list of favorite foods, even if they do look like vaginas, slugs and smoker’s snot.

Oysters are good. The St. Mary’s County Oyster Fest is better than some ridiculous “look at me” shit at Old Ebbitt.

Good Burritos aside… can we get some other examples that’d fall into the “resurgence of DC food carts” category?

Please… I like mobile food.

Off the top of my head, there’s the jamaican coco bread carts by Howard, the On The Fly kids, the Korean BBQ cart on 14th and L, and I’ve heard of a good halal cart.
I’ll do a post on this when I know more on the topic.

Oh, and the fancy pizza cart in Arlington. http://www.pupatella.com/

I’m a Burrito Brothers loyalist myself. Sad that they seem to be disappearing.

I know someone mentioned it in a previous food post. But the New Big Wong *giggles* opens back up in Chinatown Oct. 1.
