Walking with Dinosaurs

You love the National History Museum, Jurrasic Park makes you weak at the knees and Barney was your favorite toy growing up (and by growing up, we mean, still is)?
Well, today is your lucky day, or should we say 3 days…because the “Walking with Dinosaurs: The Live Experience” is in town at the Verizon Center, September 19th to 22nd.

The show (which boasts a 20 million dollar budget, which I guess means they mean serious dinosaur business) features 15 life-sized and life-like animatronic dinosaurs, which represent the 200-million-year dinosaur reign.

During the performance, projection screens and special effects portray the splitting of the earth’s continents, the transition of deserts to lush green prairies, the forming of oceans, erupting volcanoes and a massive comet.

Variety said, “The dinosaurs are stunning, life-size and faultlessly nimble. In act one, the beast’s parade into the arena gnashing and cavorting as a safari-suited paleontologist describes their attributes … in the second half, the action cranks up, culminating in a spectacular clash as a T-Rex mom defends her baby from predators … Walking With Dinosaurs is a truly spectacular spectacular. It is everything a dino-phile could want.”

tho we feel that Jian’s recommendation of it works better:it’s sure to be 100 times more awesome than the circus and 500 times less french than cirque de soleil

Seriously: plan to attend one of the many Virginia Wine fall festivals near Winchester VA and hit up Dinosaurland - even better if you’ve partaken of the fermented fruit first.

You can try the Virginia Wine and Garlic Festival in Amherst, VA in October and take 66W out, hit Dinosaurland, then pop down 29 through Charlottesville to Amherst and Rebac Winery.
