Lots of stuff going down; here’s a sampling. Biggest news of course being the Girl Talk mania seizing the region with sold-out shows left and right. What are you up to?
- Wednesday get your dose of folk, country and whimsy via Caleb Stine and the Brakemen (feat. Wye Oak) and the excellent Musee Mechanique at the Golden West. Alternatively, get punked at the Casualties show at the Ottobar.
- Thursday you’ve got to hit up the Mux Mool & the Synchronicity Suite tour at the Wind-Up Space.
- Friday I’ll be working the door at the Hexagon for the Thrust Lab show. So come say hi. And while you’re at it, just a block south John Davis (ex-Q and Not U, Georgie James) is playing Metro Gallery as Title Tracks with support from Moscow Telephone among others. Alternatively, at the Talking Head you’ve got the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise feat. Julian Koster and a slew of others.
- Saturday brings the brutally sold-out Girl Talk show at Sonar. Drown your sorrows at the Hexagon with Hexspeak or catch the opening of the Pain of Being Dead II: Baltimonster horror-themed arts extravaganza at the brand-spanking new Echo space, next door to the Wind-Up. The Survivors of Camp Crystal Lake, We Are the Seahorses, and Mr. Moccasin will be playing live.
- Sunday Rise Against brings it with Alkaline Trio to Rams Head Live
- Monday the Brazilian Girls hit Sonar while Dead Confederate drops into the Talking Head
- Waiting in the Wings: Ted Leo just announced a solo show at the G-Spot in December with special guests. And I wet my pants over it.
