Summer of Fever Starts Tonight

Summer of Fever Starts Tonight

July 9, 2008 by Svetlana

If there is one thing you all know by now then that is the one thing DC does not lack is what we like to call “entertainment for nothing, and your shows for free”.
From Fort Reno to Screen on the Green and other free movies, to Jazz in the Sculpture Garden to endless “pay what you can” theater and art programs, our endless giveaway incentives and the whole Smithsonian Institution, you live in the prime location to be cultured without compromise.
Well, add to the ever growing list this: The (delightfully curated) Free Summer Fever Residency at Dahlak

Now, we have covered Fever a-plenty, from their three to two to renaming to three again to four member reiterations, so much so that rumor has it, some people are starting to talk about them having special BYT treatment or something.

Well, poppycock.
You play this many and this varied shows and so many of them for a good cause or, in this case, for nothing but love, and we will, I pinky swear, write about you a bunch too.
We would.

Onto more important things:

The Line Up: Even if you have seen Fever a million times (possible) and the prospect of seeing them 6 more times in the next 8 weeks may seem like overkill, their “special guests” are well, truly special.

Check this:

As you can see it all kicks off tonight with KOKO and (in some circles) legendary (the fucking) Coits and proceeds with a veritable DC old-and-new best-of:

True Womanhood
Pree (May Tabol of Le Loup’s side project)
The City Veins
Karl Southgate Seminar (Coats redux)
Black And White Jacksons

PLUS mystery guests………

AND ALL THAT FOR FREE.
+
They’ve all been working out. And today’s show has already cause a nice little comment stir.

Print this and use it.
And in case you don’t know where Dahlak is:
go to the corner of 18th and U and Florida, and walk into the restaurant next to El Tamarindo.
That is where it is.

Jeremy Says:

In addition to these shows, there are open mic nights on Thursdays that are free as well. And addition to that additional info, there is a show this Saturday the 12th with some good bands an myself on acoustic. http://winstoncarmichael.tumblr.com That’s free too. 9pm. Come?
