Ladytron is in town again this week (afterparties and whatnot info is about to be released) but the thing you should genuinely be excited about instead is this:
ex-member (and “so cool it hurts” person) Pop Levi is readying a new album.
When “Black Majick Party” came out a little while back, I wrote this:
“Blue Honey” is seriously a perfect piece of retro-london-throwback-dirty-yet-insanely-glamorous music. Pop (who used to play with Ladytron) describes his music as “Bad Music for Bad People” and if this is bad, we really don’t want to be good.
Same went for “Sugar Assault me now” and everything else I laid my ears on.
Now that samples of “Never Never Love” are leaking all around, we can be just as stoked.
Recorded entirely in Hollywood at Quincy Jones’ old studio, Westlake, where both Thriller & Off The Wall were laid down, Mr. Levi has returned with an album about the madness of love - 100% autobiographical, 100% clever, 100% dumb, 100% unique. And that’s giving 400% already.
Sample the new song here:

youtube it away
and as a bonus: check out this unique two-part YouTube live video of the song “Semi-Babe”, open each of these, line them up side by side and sync them up to play simultaneously
you better be at least in like by now.
Svet you have the best taste in rock and roll. If only we could cure of this St. Etienne eurotempo stuff you’d be officially punk rock.

There is a time and a place for everything.
And sometimes, like in the case of Pop Levi that time and place is everytime and everywhere.

I love this man
