Last Chance To See The Animation Show

Last Chance To See The Animation Show

June 19, 2008 by Cale Send to a Friend Send to a Friend

Started in 2003, The Animation Show is a collection of rare animated shorts, first shown theatrically and later released in a slightly modified program on DVD. Previously the series was curated by Mike Judge (of Beavis & Butthead fame) and Don Hertzfeldt, but curiously Don was not involved in this years production, nor did any of his shorts appear, which are usually one of the (many) highlights of the show. But nonetheless, Vol 4 is excellent. Over 20 films are packed in, ranging from traditional 2D, stop motion, and state of the art computer animation.

A perfect mixture of humor and beauty, The Animation Show has consistently delivered over the years. Seeing every release in the theater (some multiple times) and owning every DVD, I can assure you there is no filler here. Every single short is worth your time. And you don’t have to be a geek over this kind of stuff like me to enjoy it.  Unfortunately we’re a little slack in informing the masses this year, and you have ONLY ONE NIGHT LEFT to see it. Perhaps another run will be picked up at another theater, but if not, the E Street Cinema is your only chance. And I do mean only, the DVD releases, as stated early, differ from the theatrical releases. I cannot recommend this enough.

Candice Says:

I, personally, could have done without so much Crotch Biting Sloop. The rest was pretty enjoyable.

Agreed, one was great, three was overkill.
